Blizzard Announces StarCraft 2 أرسل من قبل foaad في الأحد, 2007/05/20 - 4:26am.
Blizzard has announced StarCraft 2 at their packed event in Seoul, South Korea. IGN is liveblogging the event, describing gameplay footage being played as well as full cinematics. From the description of ongoing events there are massive changes to the way the game plays, new units, a physics system within the game engine, and the capability to show over 100 units onscreen at a time. Source: Slashdot Background info: StarCraft is an RTS game released back in 1998. It was called one of the greatest games of all times. And has received a star in the Walk of game. It's also one of the most played PC games (tournaments are still held up till these days). Announcing the sequel -after almost a decade of the original game- comes as shocking (and most welcomed) news to the huge fan base of the game.

Interesting game. We'll wait for it. By the way I also though Tiberium Wars was crap. A little better than Generals, yes, but it was still terrible.

Yeah you're right, great improvements in the game engine (I've first tried the 3D version of it through Emperror and I was really excited about 3D engine for a strategy game), but the story sucks, poor strategic techniques (not so many options), and bad cast of third-degree actors for game scenes.
Hmm, thanks for the information Rammstein. I liked Red Alert 2 very much, so I'll try to find this game in the market, considering it's not very old.
Hey RTS fans
I wouldn't call C&C 3 a complete failure! it's a good RTS definitely better than Generals but it doesn't live up to the C&C Legend. And although I myself prefer 3D rendered cut scenes, I must say it's not a bad idea to maintain C&C tradition of live action cut scenes, also some of the actors are first class actors, the story is a little bit cheesy and over the top especially with the introduction of the alien race but I think C&C have never been about good story (most of RTS games aren't). RTS 3D engines have came along way, back in the days of Red Alert 2 there were some 3D RTS games but they were total disappointment, these days I don't think anyone would consider releasing a 2D RTS game. BTW Regarding Supreme Commander, I tried it some time ago, and I didn't like it very much. Some people are really crazy about it, though. Perhaps I didn't like it just because I played the one-player version, but if you can play it with others then it might be different. By the way, I don't see any interesting games these days. It seems they don't make any more good games for the PC. Do you guys know of any interesting ones? By the way, I don't see any interesting games these days. I used to think the same, but then found it was my fault for not looking for them What are the genres that you like?! First person shooter games, and also adventure games. Violence and blood.

Well no wonder you can't find anything interesting, because these genres aren't interesting I assume you already finished HL2 and its expansion and waiting for the second expansion, right? I also assume you have played all of GTA installments and waiting for the new one. Anyway when we'll meet I'll give you these videos which I've downloaded recently, It's an Australian (if you don't mind the accent Oh I remembered something you should get S.T.A.L.K.E.R. if you don't already have it, I've heard about it on that show. You're right, but the game lacks creativity, I mean, the same old-fashioned RTS style was there, nothing new although it took them really long time to develop which made us think we're waiting for something big.

Yes, I agree with you, but the scenes (comparing to RE2) was crap! and I don't think Josh Holloway is a first degree actor

Me too! plus anything from Capcom and EA (specially NFS series Recently, I've played Call Of Cthulu - Dark Corners of The Earth, pretty nice game with new awesome features, I've also played Biohazard 4 which was a great experience (around 24 hours-long playing time loaded with 2 GBs of sharp movies!). I heard that S.T.A.L.K.E.R is great, also Painkiller, I think I'm gonna try them hoping that my GeForce 6600 won't explode! BTW, HL2 did not completely satisfy my expectations (it was kinda boring) but HL2-Episode one was GREAT! (I think any game that uses a great physics engine such as Max Payne 2:The Fall of Max Payne worths playing).

I see you're not a fan of LOST

Me too! plus anything from Capcom and EA (specially NFS series I'm not an FPS gamer and that's why you don't see me deeming FPS titles as stupid, pointless and silly (although that's what I think of most of them @Rammstein Hmm, I've never actually played any of the earlier C&C games or any NFS games. These seem like great games, though. I guess I'll try to locate them. I tried Call of Cthulu, but didn't finish it. It was too difficult. The Geforce 6600 is a pretty good graphics card at this point in time. I have a Geforce 7300, which is slower, but it's still good enough for most games. @Foaad STALKER had very high system requirements and it didn't work well on my computer. Also most of the dialogue was in Russian without any subtitles. The graphics were great, but it ran at something like 10 or 20 frames per second. It was not playable even at low resolutions and with all the effects turned off. By the way, since we're talking games, the game I love the most is Deus Ex. It the first game I played, and sadly, almost all games I've ever tried since are not a fraction as good. Take a look at it. An FPS?! But I see it has some RPG elements too (this is also the case of STALKER). Of course nothing would look as good as the first game you've played, I still remember Ninja Turtles III and Captain Tsubasa, man those were the days

Yes! I'm not a fan of LOST it's all about mysteries I can't bear! and the story is SO complicated! (but there is a lot of pretty good looking actresses I guess! I like RTS games, I tried almost all C&C series over a decade starting from 1997 to 2007! I also tried games from other companies such as Rise Of Nations (sucks), Age Of Empires (sucks ... to some extent!), Act Of War - High Treason (great pictures, but not that big thing) and so many other games that I can't remember BTW, I'm surprised of how anyone could hate FPS style! some of FPS games suck I give you that, but they are great in general, because they can really immerse you into the story and give you a great experience. Ahnaqsh Talking about old games, well, the first games I tried were Outwars, Duke Nukem 3d, Quake ||, Hitman, I enjoyed the last one so much, also Duke Nukem -specially those dumb PigCops I think Heavy Metal F.A.K.K2 was one of the greatest games in graphics, story and techniques I've seen (comparing to its companions back to 2000s), it was based on Quake 3 engine. @Foaad Ninja Turtles III? that was the most difficult game ever. I must have attempted to complete it more than 30 times, but that evil Shredder killed me every time. @Rammstein I saw some of he games you mentioned coming out and getting popularity, but for some reason or another I didn't get a chance to play them. Hitman (IMHO) required too much patience and self-control.
@Rammstein
Of course different people have different taste, but if I have to rationalize it I guess theses days (I've become old) I don't like stressful games very much, I get back from work tired and I want something to play with one hand while my feet up the desk and you know what they say, RTS is the genre for the intellectuals And of course I hate the "point and shoot" concept, maybe you like FPS because of things other than pointing and shooting (added gimmick). but I like RTS for their main concept @ahnaqsh Yeah games back then were very difficult to complete you had to repeat them over and over till you the game like the back of your hand. |
I think this new edition came just in time as a good replacement maybe for Tiberium Wars by EA which IMO was a complete failure.
