Don't you think this kind of comments aren't necessary in an on-line forum?! I mean think of the following:
If a forum has 100 members and someone put up a really nice article, then every member thanked him and he thanked every one for his thanks, then we'll have 200 reply that adds nothing to the original topic and bury the useful information into pages of useless comments.
A thanks reply is only necessary when someone ask a question and his question is answered then he could add a thanks reply to indicate that he has got the answer.
