I thought I should be allowed to start such a discussion here as I don't really thank that you guys are totally indifferent to music.

Well, music was my no.1 passion way before programming and systems design came into picture, and still is so.
I am (rather was) a guitarist, and my two major fields of interest are (as we call it today) Classical Music - particularly early-mid 19th century, and Old School Heavy Metal .

So what do you guys and gals listen to?!

My favorite music genre is Trance, actually I only listen to Trance and nothing else.

I wonder if anybody ever heard of it or likes it, I have yet to find someone here in Syria who knows about and likes Trance!

Never heard of this genre.
Perhaps I've heard the music but don't know the name..

It's some sort of electronic music, quite popular in Europe and the US, but not here, it's really hard to find such stuff here in CD shops, I get most of the tracks from the Internet

Yeah Techno-like, but it's much better, I like it a lot more than Techno.

Uh the good and the evil can be found everywhere, so why's your negative reaction against Heavy Metal?
I won't be defending the genre here, but Heavy Metal bands today are the best musicians technically and artistically, and their creative work addresses way broader range of issues than just love and relationships.

Yes I'm pessimistic when it comes to new semi-serious composers, cuz everything I've listened to so far are forced, nonprofessional works that may have direct emotional appeal to some but have NO permanent artistic value. I mean will they endure the test of time ?!

I don't want to generalize, however, and this is what I have to say for modern classical music. And it can be because I haven't listened to anything worthy so far..

Well, you may try listening to Yanni's works: new-age music in a classical spirit.
(Bond) has some nice pieces (as performers).
And sure (Andrea Bocelli) the grate

It is this kind of things that I was referring to; I've listened to some of Yanni's works and I think he's.. just how I described his works in the above post.

Basically this type of music provides too little for me to satisfy my musical hunger.

I do exactly understand your point: Yanni's music is nice but it's "thin",
if you want to hear some real new-composed music, listen to (The Lord Of The Rings) sond track, it has three magnificent parts(CDs)
