Two years ago I criticized a certain ISP in Syria for allowing users to suggest banning websites which they view as inappropriate. Almost everyone except very few misunderstood my point and claimed that I support the spread of pornography.
My whole point was that if ignorants vote, the elected system will not be short of disappointments. The ignorants suggested blocking Youtube, Facebook, and Amazon, while I don't really see any limitation on pornography (not that I'd want to). I wouldn't think SCS could have thought about blocking such websites if it wasn't for those weekend patriots, who are still thinking that they are protecting their society. Was I right here afterall? Secondly blocking a site for violating the law isn't a bad thing (they do this all over the world). in our case there is no obvious law regarding this matter which is bad but the worse (and I think it's coming) is having a wrong law. Finally No you wasn't right The blocking suggestion system is not like what you are describing, it has been said before and I'll remind you, suggestions will be viewed by staff and if the site really violates the filter (which is now optional BTW) rules then it will be blocked, But I think since there was no law the ISP should had made the filter optional from the beginning. personally I would support a law to block pornographic sites, but I don't think we should block anti-Islamic sites, what could we benefit from that? wouldn't be like hiding our heads in the sand?! Anyway the issue here is that they're not just blocking sites for what ever reason they like but they're also doing it stupidly, blocking entire sites like blogspot, facebook and youtube only because they would like to block a few posts in them!
![]() الشي الوحيد يلي محجوب عندي هو الـ CSS تبع المواقع التي يفترض أنها محجوبة .Facebook.jpg I remember the discussion you're talking about (wow, was that two years ago already?), and Ayman's response at the end was illuminating for me. Sites that violate the laws of the state are blocked. However, stupidity is our worst enemy. In these days of super huge sites like blogspot, utube, and such, if only one of them is blocked then the internet experience of most people is very much damaged. Imagine if they block google or wikipedia or gmail...
Imagine if they block google or wikipedia or gmail...
Every Thing Could Happen Why not ...
Espicially if they said google earth is forbidden 4 violatin the law and also there manufature Google If they block Google, concerned Syrian youth should engage in mass suicide right infront of the SCS headquarters, a la Kaiowas.

Why not mass emigration?... Oh wait that's already happening.

Suicide is for those who are unable to emigrate
