NVIDIA reveals biggest performance leaps in company history with release of GeForce 9600 GT GPU.

NVIDIA has unveiled the first GPU of its next-generation GeForce 9 Series that may offer the largest single-generation performance jump in their history. In tests so far, the NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT GPU delivers up to 116% more performance than its predecessor at a price below US$199.

What?!
If anything the 9600GT GPU is a marketing scam, it is in fact a reduced 8800GT (it uses the same core with fewer shaders), they should've named it 8700GTS. It doesn't offer anything new, not even DX 10.1 support (while the older ATI 3800 series does).
Admittedly it does offers a solid performance at a bargain price, but it doesn't do anything to deserve the 9xxx name.
And it's not just the 9600GT, also the 9800GX2 is two 8800GTS glowed together.
Which makes me think that nVidia is gonna skip the 9xxx brand all together when they actually bring up their next-gen GPU line of products.
