Dell's Ubuntu love-in expands to new laptops

Linux lovers take note, Dell is feeling another round of the community spirit tugging on its heartstrings.
The Round Rock vendor said it will pre-load the Ubuntu operating system on two new boxes, starting early next month.
It's also arming its current selection of Ubuntu PCs and laptops with an updated version 8.04 (AKA Hardy Heron) operating system.
Just in time for the LinuxWorld expo in August, Dell customers will be able to purchase XPS M1530n and Studio 15n laptops with Ubuntu installed. (The n at the end means it's a non-Windows system.)

Dell's been shipping notebooks with Ubuntu preinstalled for quite some time now, since 7.04 I believe. Many newer notebooks are being specially designed with Linux in mind, the ASUS Eee is one example.

I haven't seen any of them in Syria!! You've sure seen the models that Dell ships with Ubuntu preinstalled, albeit with Microsoft Windows instead of the Unix-like operating system. These are Inspiron 1420N and 1525N, and XPS M1330 and XPS M1530 all based on the Intel Santa Rosa platform which is very well supported by the majority of Free Unix-like operating systems, hence my interest to acquire a Dell notebook in the first place.
